MMEW is a professional development workshop for K-12 Educators to gain a hands-on learning experience from the experts. The workshop offers short courses, guest speakers, and field trips focused on Minnesota’s rich mining history, geology, and mineral resources, led by the state’s leading geologists from the Minnesota Geological Survey, the Minnesota DNR, the University of Minnesota, industry representatives, and others!

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of MMEW, taking place at the Minnesota Discovery Center June 24 – 26th. Nearby lodging is available at a reduced rate.

The MMEW aligns with the Minnesota Science and Social Studies Standards. Attend this workshop to network with other teachers, learn about the Mesabi Iron Range, and receive free teaching materials including rocks and mineral samples, lesson plan ideas, posters, maps, and other useful resources!
