The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) and its Foundation will once again be providing a unique event for students interested in learning more about informational technology and the high tech business world.
During the 2017-2018 school year, MHTA is connecting high school students with STEM-focused companies and high-tech businesses in Minnesota for an on-site tour of their facilities and the opportunity to have a first-hand encounter with a STEM professional.
Through a generous donation from the AT&T Foundation, the MHTA Foundation is able to provide limited funding support to eligible schools for the Tech Experience Tours. Funding is available to help cover transportation and food costs. Students will also be provided with a drawstring bag with information about technology careers.
Research shows that the most effective encouragement for students to pursue a STEM career is the opportunity to meet and interact with a STEM professional. This program offers that opportunity for students to learn and be encouraged to pursue a STEM career.
In previous years, MHTA organized a number of tours at companies like Target, General Mills, Unisys, Securian, and Be the Match. For the 2017-18 school year, we are connecting high school students with STEM-focused companies and the high-tech departments of other businesses in Minnesota.
