ZOOMS Institute: Engineering FOR, FROM, and BY Animals
August 6-8, 2018 9 am – 3pm
See the Zoo in a whole new way! This institute will engage teachers in utilizing animals and the Zoo as a tool to integrate engineering concepts into their curriculum, based on the Minnesota State Science Standards. Sessions focus on Engineering BY Animals, Engineering FROM Animals (biomimicry), and Engineering FOR Animals using hands on activities, zoo staff presentations, and behind-the-scenes tours.
Cost: $50 (includes light breakfast and lunch each day)
ZOOMS Institute 2.0: Engineering for Conservation
August 9, 2018 9 am- 3pm
The Minnesota Zoo iscommitted to its mission of connecting people, animals, and the natural world to save wildlife. Through expert talks and behind the scenes experiences, see how STEM is being used by field biologists, conservationists, and zoo staff to help protect and conserve species both in the zoo and in the wild. Learn ways to engage your students in activities that help make a difference within the context of engineering for conservation.
Cost: $25 (includes light breakfast and lunch)
